In Mark 12 Jesus states, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength’ the second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Later, In 2 Timothy 1:7 Paul writes that,“God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love”. In the spirit of these scriptures we see in full how we are to live and love others in these current times.
Love God. Love your neighbor. Don’t fear, but love.
We’re called not to fear our current circumstances but to believe in the power of God and his healing hands. We are also called to love our neighbor as ourselves. In the midst of this pandemic we can actively love and care for our brothers and sisters by taking the appropriate measures to stay safe. Below is Gathering Midtown’s protocol for hosting safe and healthy Micro Gatherings (MG).
At Gathering Midtown we’re committed to making sure that we serve the greater good of the community by practicing safe and approved safety protocols related to Covid-19. It is our belief that this is one of the best ways to care for those around us. Below are some of the ways in which we will be implementing new protocols to care for our church community.
We are currently still meeting virtually on The Youtubes and joining together in small Gospel Communities when appropriate. While we do long to be in our normal space at Hawthorne Academy we and SAISD still think it best not to meet in their public space. In response we are Launching Micro Gatherings in Mid-September so that those who would like a place to worship together physically may do so.
These groups will be made up of 10 individuals or fewer that meet together on Saturday nights or Sunday mornings to watch our Youtube service in a safe and socially distanced fashion. At our Micro Gatherings we will provide masks as needed and hand sanitizer. We are also directing all Micro Gathering leaders to lead the group in safe social distancing.
